PRESENT DAY FOO

As you should know, the Foo Fighters have a LONG history. A LOT has happened since the bands inception in 1995.  Dave and co. have gone through 2 guitarist, and a drummer. Dave Grohl played all the instruments on the Foo Fighters self-tittled debut in '95, save for a guitar part on the song 'X-Static', which was played by Greg Dulli of the Afgahn Wigs. In 1997, after extensive touring, the Foo Fighters, minus drummer Will Goldsmith(formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate) went back into the studio to record what would become the bands most succesfull record. It was called The Colour and the Shape(or TCATS for short) and it yeilded about 4 commercial hits, including Monkey Wrench, Everlong and My Hero. Currently, the Foo's are doing a small promotional tour to promote their forthcoming record, entitled "there is Nothing Left to Lose." The record is slated for a November 2nd release, and there is already quite a bit of media pre-release Hype going on. This record also marks a change in record companies for the Foo Fighters. The Band was on Capitol Records, untill this past summer, when Dave put out a press release stating that the band had moved over to RCA records. Also, making the move from Capitol to RCA, is Dave's imprint, Roswell Records. Keep your eyes open, because I have a feeling that this record is gonna be huge, and from the songs that I have heard, it looks like this record is gonna put the Foo Fighters under the media spotlight. In Other words, your gonna be hearing a LOT about the Foo Fighters in the next few months.

Below, you will find Profiles of each member of the Foo Fighters, including both current and past members:

David Grohl

David Eric Grohl was born on the 14th of January, 1969 in Warren, Ohio. His father, James was a journalist for the Scripps - Howard newspaper chain, and his mother was a High-School English teacher. His sister, Lisa, is 3 years older then him. When he was 3, his family moved to Springfield, Virginia. 3 years after that, his parents divorced. Dave claims that it didn't have that big of an impact on him, perhaps because he was too young at the time. When he was 12 yrs old,  he started playing guitar and he took lessons for a few years. He would record origional songs onto a boom box, then play them back over another stereo while he added the drums into the boombox. Dave became a 'punk rocker' when he was 13. Him and his sister visited their cousin in Illinois, and she basicly turned them onto the punk music and lifestyle. Dave would go onto play in a whole bunch of Punk and hardcore bands like Mission Imposible(AKA Freak Baby, or Fast-they broke up in 1986) and Dain Bramage. His first big break came when his favourate band, a D.C. area hardcoare band called Scream, took out an ad in the paper saying that they were in need of a drummer.  He responded to the ad, and he said that he was 19 years old, even though he was really only 16! Even then, the band refused him an audition, but he managed to sweet talk them into giving him a chance. After a few jams, they asked him to join the band. But Dave, being the respectable(or idiotic) person he was, turned down the offer, siting that he was still commited to his band Dain Bramage. After a few months, though, he came to his sences and convinced Scream to take him....

More to come....
