FOO FIGHTERS NEWS:

Thursday, March 3, 2000

webnews.jpg (1357 bytes) Hey! You guys musta thought I died or something, right? Well guess what? Im still alive and well! I have to apologize for the lack of any updates, especially to this section (notice how it was last updated in late December). There are a few reasons as to why I havent been updating too much recently. First off, I have been busy with the usuall crap (ie. school) as well as the fact that I have started a new band and I have been devoting a lot of time to it (ie. writing songs, working on the band website). You can check us out at our web site http://www.phayze.8k.com(its not much of a website right now, check back in about a week and itll be much better). Also, I will be working on a BRAND NEW foo fighters website, which will be located at http://www.foo-fighters.com. Oh ya, i just thought I'd give mention to my friends website http://www.geocities.com/musictrader88. He is the guy who let me put up all his pics from I&I so go check out his site.

foonews.jpg (1128 bytes)Well, a lot has gone down in the world of foo since the last update. Ill leave out most of the stuff that you've all probably heard already. It looks like Dave and Co. made a pit stop in the studio befor heading over to amsterdam, and aperantly they laid down a couple songs. You can catch the Foo's on Conan O'Brien on April 4, 2000. Also, some great news - Foo has confirmed that they will be playing at the Reading Festival this year. well... thats it for now... Remember to keep clicking those banners!

webnews.jpg (3552 bytes) You may have noticed the addition of a few banners onto FooWeb. They are not on every page. Just the main page (near the bottom), the Pictures page(just bellow the FooWeb Banner) and this page. Basicly, as you already know, I am trying to get FooWeb on its own server. I've had way to much trouble with all these "free-hosting" sites. If I can raise enough funds, I can move FooWeb to a much faster server, get a completly independant Domain name (as in none of this ".itgo" stuff), and not have those supper slow, bandwidth sucking freeservers banners on top of EVERY single page. I would apreciate it more if you would click on the banners that do NOT have all that freeservers stuff on them and instead click on the banners I've mentioned. I say this, because I get jack-squat when people click on the freeservers banners. Also, with enough Fundage, I can probably open up my own FTP, and trust me, I have a LOT of stuff, and not just Foo's. So please, just before you leave FooWeb, click on a Banner or two... It really means a lot to me. Thank You. In other site news, I have added the possibility for all of you to sign up for your own @fooweb.zzn.com email address(once again, with enough banner clicks, I can get rid of the ".zzn" part).

foonews.jpg (2528 bytes)Would you Like to "Learn to Fly" with the Foo Fighters? Well if you live in Canada (except for Quebec - Sorry), This is your cance!! MuchMusic is holding a contest in which the winner gets 2 tickets to the First Foo Canadian Tour date as well as airfair and (I belive) $500CDN. But wait.... There's More! You also get to attend SKYDIVING lessons WITH the Foo Fighters. And when you Make the jump, guess who will be there to film you! The Foo Fighters! Yes, thats right folks, the Foo Fighters will film you as you are dumped out of a jet at 3,000 km. Now wouldn't that kick total ASS?! You even get to keep the digital camera the the Foo's used to film you! Be sure to join the contest here. Wow, so I guess MuchMusic IS good for something. Thank You MuchMusic!

foonews.jpg (2528 bytes)In other Foo News, Two Thursdays ago, Pat Smear Joined Foo Fighters for two songs. He is not re-joining the band, as this was a one night only deal.

webnews.jpg (3552 bytes) I am currently looking for a more reliable Server to host FooWeb. I am looking for something like freeservers except more reliable. A personal domain is preferable, and I can basicly only afford free(Unless I get some refferalls for GoTo World - please join using the link at the bottom of the main page). If you have any Idea's, Contact Matt.

Sorry for the lack of news recently. The server is being very fussy. Anyways, I better get this news update in while I can. This is some pretty cool news! This past Thursday, the Foo Fighters played in Seattle. Unfortunatly, Nate has the flu and was unable to perform. For some songs, the Foo's played as a trio with Chris on Bass. The Bassist from Beck joined for a song, and then a familiar face joined them for the last three songs... None other than KRIST NOVOSELIC! Click Here for the MTV's Full article!

Well this is it, folks. The day we've all been waiting for. TNLT is now in stores. go out and buy it, it rocks(see my review in the "New Album" section of FooWeb)! The enhanced section is decent. You have to see the video of a drunken Dave talking about how he was in Nirvana, and not to tell him how to write a song. Its pretty funny. Other than that, you will find the lyrics for the album, and the learn to fly video on the CD rom part. As a bonus, the CD comes with a rub on tatto of the "FF" that apears on the back of Dave's neck on the album cover. Also, it DOES come in a paperboard-digipak thing, but luckly for us, it actually fits in most CD racks! Yay!

In other Foo news, the rumor about pat being back in the band was completly FALSE. I apologize for getting your hopes up.

Well let me start off by apollogizing for the lack of updates at FooWeb recently. Dont worry, we will NOT become one of those crap sites that never get updated. Ok, so a LOT of stuff has happened since the last news update. Ill try to cover everything I missed.

Ok, we all know that TNLTL is out in a few days, and we're all gonna buy it, RIGHT?! Lucky for us Fans, the new CD will have a CD-rom enhanced portion to it. That means you can put it in your computer, and there'll probably be some videos or interviews or something on it. Also, It looks like TNLTL will be packaged in a "Digipak." which means everybody will be pissed off, cuz it wont fit in some CD racks. I could be wrong though. Onto the Learn To Fly single: LTF is doing VERY, VERY well here in Canada, and also in the States. On MuchMusic, the video is steadily rising up the "Countdown" chart, and I have been told that it is getting heavy airplay on MTV. In the UK, Radio 1 has put LTF on it's "A-list". This equalls heavy airplay in the UK. And now, LTF has reached NUMBER ONE on the US modern Rock Charts, AND Canada's Rock Radio Charts. Wait.... Thers TONS More:

Look for the Foo Fighters in practicly EVERY Rock/Alternative Magazine. Magazines including Guitar World, Guitar One, Guitar Player, Modern Drummer, Spin, Bass Player, Alternative Press, and a whole slew of others will be having/already have features, articles, reviews, etc in them. Be sure to check these out. I may be doing transcriptions of these, if anybody would like to help me out, please email Matt. I also am working on a Tabs Section, so please email me if you can help me out.

Here are the foo's in radio/tv/instore apearences. Credit all this info to FF.com. (You didn't expect me to re type that WHOLE thing, did you? :))

It looks as though Pat Smear (yes, thats right people), may be re-joining the Foo Fighters! This is definatly good news. FF.com claims that the rumors circulating are that he will be apearing with the Foo Fighters in New York, at their SNL performance, as well as their instore gig at HMV. For the moment, this is an UNCONFIRMED rumor, but hey, wouldd FF.com lie? would they?

ok, thats all for today. More updates on the way.

Thursday, October 6

The first video off of There Is Nothing Left To Lose, "Learn To Fly" debuted on MTV's "Total Request Live" today. "Learn to Fly" - the single - will be released in Australia on October 11th, and Europe on October 18th. Also, check the Tour Dates section of FooWeb for some new European dates.

Friday, Sept. 24

Well, as you all know, the Foo Fighters 3rd album is due out in stores around November 2nd. And with Learn to Fly (the first single) getting regular airplay, it looks as though we're gonna be hearing a LOT about the Foo Fighters in the media. They are apperently slated to apear in a number of rock magazines, and I would NOT be suprised if MTV and MuchMusic drooled their corporate slime all over the video for Learn to Fly. Some older news- The replacement for Franz Stahl is Chris Schiflett, formerly of No Use For A Name. He is currently just the Foo's touring guitarist, but in a MuchMusic interview, Dave hinted that if Chris really does a good job, they may promote him to full time band member.
